Fitted bedrooms and wardrobes

The argument
The gap at the top is the giveaway
Look at most fitted wardrobes and there is a foot of dusty nothing between the top of the unit and the ceiling, because the units come in standard heights and the ceiling does not.
Made-to-measure closes that gap, which in a bedroom is usually a full extra shelf of storage across the whole wall. In an older house with high ceilings it can be two.
The same applies to the awkward corners: the chimney breast, the bay, the sloping ceiling under the roof. Those are the places a bedroom wastes space, and they are precisely the places furniture drawn for the room can use.

From our own jobs
Rooms we have already made.

We make the carcasses, so the wardrobes finish at the ceiling instead of stopping short of it, the run finishes at the wall instead of stopping short of that, and the sloping ceiling in the back bedroom stops being a reason you cannot have storage there.
Where we work
Cumbria, and over the border.
We fit our own furniture across north Cumbria and into Dumfriesshire. Two of the jobs on this site are in Scotland, in the same house, two years apart.

Fitted bedrooms and wardrobes: what people ask
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, and it is one of the better arguments for having them made. A slope defeats standard units completely, but it is only an angle on a drawing, and the space under it is usually the only spare storage in the room.
Do the wardrobes go right to the ceiling?
If you want them to. Because we cut the carcasses, the height is set by your ceiling rather than by what a supplier stocks, which usually gains a full shelf across the whole wall.
Can the bedroom match a kitchen you fitted for us before?
Yes, and it happens often. We keep the drawings and the specification, so a bedroom done two years after the kitchen can be finished in the same paint, with the same handles and the same detailing.
The rest of the house
We make all of it.
