Fitted bedrooms and wardrobes in Penrith

The houses here
Why a standard one will not fit.
Penrith is red sandstone and the Eden Valley behind it is farmhouses, stone barns and a steady run of conversions. The barn work is the interesting part: a converted agricultural building usually gives you height, exposed trusses and a very large open room, and then no two walls that meet at a right angle. Standard units in a room like that leave gaps you can put your hand in.
The Eden Valley conversions tend to want one long run and an island, because the room is big enough to need a working centre. An island is also the piece where making it ourselves shows most plainly: it can be any length the room wants, it can carry a table on the end of it, and it does not have to be assembled out of two standard boxes and a filler panel.
We make the carcasses, so the wardrobes finish at the ceiling instead of stopping short of it, the run finishes at the wall instead of stopping short of that, and the sloping ceiling in the back bedroom stops being a reason you cannot have storage there.

Penrith: the questions we get
Do you fit kitchens in barn conversions near Penrith?
Yes, and they are some of the best rooms to work in. A conversion usually has the height and the space, and what it does not have is a straight wall, so the furniture has to be drawn to the building. We measure it, draw it and make it to that drawing.
Can you make an island long enough for a room that size?
We can make it whatever length the room wants, because we build the carcasses. An island is not limited to the sizes a supplier happens to stock, and it can carry a breakfast table built into the end of it if that suits how the room is used.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, and it is one of the better arguments for having them made. A slope defeats standard units completely, but it is only an angle on a drawing, and the space under it is usually the only spare storage in the room.
Do the wardrobes go right to the ceiling?
If you want them to. Because we cut the carcasses, the height is set by your ceiling rather than by what a supplier stocks, which usually gains a full shelf across the whole wall.
