Fitted bedrooms and wardrobes in Cockermouth

Cockermouth is a Georgian town at the meeting of the Cocker and the Derwent, and a good deal of its housing has been rebuilt from the ground floor up since the floods of 2009 and 2015. That leaves a town with a lot of relatively recent kitchens, many of them put in quickly under insurance, in houses that are otherwise two hundred years old.

A kitchen that went in fast after a flood is often the wrong kitchen for the house: standard units in a Georgian room with high skirtings and deep window reveals. Replacing it with furniture made for the room is one of the more satisfying jobs we get, and it usually costs less disruption than the first one did.

We make the carcasses, so the wardrobes finish at the ceiling instead of stopping short of it, the run finishes at the wall instead of stopping short of that, and the sloping ceiling in the back bedroom stops being a reason you cannot have storage there.
