Fitted bedrooms and wardrobes in Brampton

The houses here
Why a standard one will not fit.
Brampton is a sandstone market town with a cobbled square, sitting under the line of Hadrian's Wall. The houses in the middle are old and generally listed or in the conservation area, and the country around Talkin and Lanercost is farms and converted agricultural buildings. Both kinds of property have the same characteristic: the room dictates the furniture, not the other way round.
Conservation-area work needs furniture that suits the age of the building without pretending to be older than it is. Hand-painted in-frame cabinets in a quiet colour usually sit better in a Brampton town house than anything with a modern slab door, and a painted finish can be matched to what is already in the room.
We make the carcasses, so the wardrobes finish at the ceiling instead of stopping short of it, the run finishes at the wall instead of stopping short of that, and the sloping ceiling in the back bedroom stops being a reason you cannot have storage there.

Brampton: the questions we get
Do you work on listed buildings around Brampton?
Yes. Free-standing and fitted furniture both have a place in an older building, and because we make everything ourselves we can work to whatever the building and any consent conditions require rather than to a catalogue of standard sizes.
Will a hand-painted kitchen suit an old sandstone house?
Usually better than anything else. Painted in-frame cabinets have the same lines as the joinery that would originally have been in the house, and the colour is chosen to sit with the stone rather than to stand out against it.
Can you fit wardrobes under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, and it is one of the better arguments for having them made. A slope defeats standard units completely, but it is only an angle on a drawing, and the space under it is usually the only spare storage in the room.
Do the wardrobes go right to the ceiling?
If you want them to. Because we cut the carcasses, the height is set by your ceiling rather than by what a supplier stocks, which usually gains a full shelf across the whole wall.
